Publication Crisis

After a day at the AsOne office sat in front of my screen and facing a two hour train journey to London tonight, I made the rare decision to pick up a mag for the journey. I’m ashamed to admit I digest most of my daily intake of information digitally, so was a little shocked when in WHSmiths in Piccadilly, at the decline of the mag racks. Like most, I enjoy a ‘fix’ of gossip of which there were still a few old favourites on the shelves but nothing like what I guess I was expecting. The disappointment only got worse as I glanced down the rack to a blur of front covers, I realised that this wasn’t for me anymore, flicking through a number of mags the volume of ads was too apparent and I could only think of how much I enjoy reading online where I can select what I want to read without the distraction of adverts, same way I use TV; without intervals, I’m happy to pause for a tea break when it suits me :)
Well, I ended up leaving with the daily paper only so I didn’t get stopped for loitering!
Lesson of my day was obvious. The publication decline is beyond repair ; expect to see more online and mobile media erupting. Thank goodness I’m in a business that’s in demand! Calling all publishers, we’re here to help you get on the information highway.

Touched by list of 100 things to do when I die!

I felt a tear well in my eye when I read in the paper today how a mum who was suffering of cancer had wrote a list for her husband of things to do whilst raising thier children after her death. I can’t even begin to understand the emotions going through her mind whilst writing the list but it did make me realise whilst reading it, just how much I want to do with my life and my family.

My conclusion; Live life to the full! Map a plan to reach your dreams and take each day as an opportunity to step closer to a goal.

Lost without a phone!

Well… I would have been if my fab hubby hadn’t have saved me the grief yesterday! We enjoyed a lovely day out; cycled to the woodhead tunnel and rested while the children played by the riverside. It wasn’t until gone 10pm last night, after we’d cycled back, unloaded the car and sampled home made burgers on the BBQ that I realised my phone was no longer in my backpack! Thanks to Joel taking a 40 minute drive and a fair hike back to our spot by the river I was reunited with said phone! Guess the I owe you bill has increased again!

Things to avoid doing on a Bank Holiday Weekend

I find it’s very tempting to use Bank Holiday Weekends as a justified time to do all the things you put off most of the time. My advice is don’t! Your likely to only regret it later! Here are a few I expect are on the list of usual suspects: * house hold budget * deep clean * family get togethers * trip to major tourist attraction My own personal experience on all the above at one time or another left an air of regret. Have fun this weekend!
